nearest Chicken Inasal;batchoy; etc.
6.Your nanay used to make you drink
Mirinda or Royal Tru Orange when you
have a fever, which is supposed to
make you feel better.
7. When you recognize that there are
two main Ilonggo branches: the
ones in Negros Occidental who in the
1960's used spades and picks to
(ginapala kag ginapiko) to shovel
their money into their empty
swimming pools--the tikalon Ilonggos;
and the humble but no less-endowed
Panay Ilonggos who buy cars in cash,
which they carry inside their hats and
their native baskets;
8. Sinamak is a staple in your
dining table (the best Ilonggo
invention if you ask me,was even
banned on airplanes long before 9/11.
9. When you feel very protective of
other Ilonggos, especially when
they are being insulted by the
Cebuanos or Tagalogs.(bring in the old
school street fighter baby!)
10. When you go home to Iloilo and
the first thing you look for is where
to eat the best "Kansi" at the
Shopping area, the most delicious sour
beef stew in the world!
11. When you are able to change the
meaning of a very indecent
word, "iyot" into something far
harmless, just by changing the
intonation or by using "iyog" instead.
12. Your bathroom has at least one
lugod (or one for every family
member
13. Your toyo is patis and your
patis is toyo.
14. Your childhood games include
tumba patis, taksi, panagu-ay, balay-
balay, ins-ins, tin-tin baka, etc.
